The sequence of events leading to the attack remains unclear. However, it is reported that the man was involved in breeding and selling pit bulls, with at least 5 adult dogs in his backyard. Authorities suspect that the attack occurred while he was attempting to feed the animals.
Early Friday, helicopters surveying the area captured images of the man’s body inside one of the enclosures on his property. Subsequently, first responders arrived to manage the situation and secure the dogs.
Even after the authorities arrived, the drama continued as a woman somehow ended up in the yard and required assistance to escape from the dogs.
Eventually, firefighters were able to rescue her and bring the pit bulls under control. The current status of the dogs is unknown, as they are now in the custody of Animal Control.
The director of LA County’s Animal Control department expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends and pledged to conduct a comprehensive investigation to ensure the safety of both the community and the animals involved.
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed yet, and it was reported that a neighbor found him deceased.
