Oscar-winning starlet Louise Fletcher, who played the renowned bad guy Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” passed away from natural causes Friday in France, this according to her household.
Her kid, Andrew Bick, informs TMZ … Louise died in harmony in her sleep at her house in Montdurausee — a commune in Southern France — after she had actually conquered breast cancer numerous years earlier.
Louise snagged the 1976 Best Actress Academy Award for her bone-chilling efficiency as Nurse Ratched in ‘Cuckoo’s Nest.’ The movie, which swept all 5 Oscars in each of the significant classifications, focused around the tense relationship in between Ratched and Randall McMurphy, a psych ward client played by Jack Nicholson.
McMurphy was an anti-authority-free spirit who was a risk to Ratched’s rigorous guidelines to keep the other clients in line. In completion, McMurphy won over the hearts and minds of the clients … just to have a cruel Ratched order him to be developed into a lobotomized veggie.
The Nurse Ratched character was carefully picked as the fifth-greatest bad guy in film history by the American Film Institute — and she was runner-up to the Wicked Witch of the West as the best villainess.
After the success of ‘Cuckoo’s Nest,’ Fletcher landed functions in other popular movies and television programs, such as “ER,” “Picket Fences,” “A Perfect Man,” “Shameless” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” She was chosen for an Emmy for “Fences.”
Louise was 88.
