Navigating the tricky terrain of raising teenage daughters can be quite a rollercoaster, and Nick Cannon is no stranger to this challenge. In a candid moment on a recent episode of *The Talk*, the 44-year-old entertainer shared his own amusing yet genuine struggles as a father to his 13-year-old daughter, Monroe. Cannon described the experience as “horrifying,” highlighting the unique challenges that come with raising a girl in her teenage years.

During the insightful conversation, Cannon elaborated on the stark contrast between parenting his son, Moroccan, who he finds easier to relate to, and his daughter Monroe, who is all about that teenage glam life. “I can actually handle my son because he is so much like me,” he noted, adding with a touch of humor, “But my daughter… she’s all about makeup and transforming in the bathroom for hours! What could possibly take that long?”

The proud father expressed his apprehension as he witnessed Monroe blossoming into young womanhood. “It’s scary,” he confessed, acknowledging that he can’t halt the process of her growing up. Like many girls her age, Monroe is captivated by make-up, with her favorite hangout being none other than the popular beauty retailer, Sephora. Cannon joked, “She’s practically a resident there! Why all the makeup? Are you hiding another face from me?”

While Monroe is busy exploring the world of beauty products alongside her friends, Cannon takes on the role of the patient dad. He humorously described how he finds himself waiting at the front of Sephora for over an hour while she shops. “The layout of that store is like a maze, and honestly, I have no clue how it operates,” he quipped, portraying a relatable image of a dad trying to make sense of his daughter’s teenage hangouts.

Aside from his parenting tales, Cannon reflected on Monroe’s journey, revealing a sense of pride amidst the bewilderment. He shares both Monroe and Moroccan with ex-wife Mariah Carey, but that’s not where the story ends. Cannon has expanded his family to a total of 12 children, comprising sons and daughters with various partners. This expansive family tree includes sons like Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah, whom he has with Brittany Bell, as well as twins Zillion Heir and Zion Mixolydian with Abby De La Rosa.

Moreover, Cannon’s journey as a parent is marked by profound moments, including the heartbreaking loss of son Zen to brain cancer at just five months old. Despite the grief, Cannon celebrates life through his growing family, including his latest addition, daughter Halo Marie, born in December 2022.

Through his light-hearted yet honest sharing, Nick Cannon provides not only a glimpse into the challenges of being a “girl dad,” but also emphasizes the joy and complexity that comes with parenting, particularly during the transformative teenage years. His approach, blending humor and affection, creates a relatable narrative for many parents navigating similar experiences during this phase of their children’s lives.
