The teaser for Lecrae’s ‘Church Clothes 4’ album is yet another example of the GRAMMY-winning rap artist’s charming self-awareness. Staged as a synthetic podcast interview, the whole idea satirizes Lecrae’s faith-based rap. “The truth is, you can’t have the righteous without the ratchet,” he declares at one point. Truth is, the Houston guy’s never ever hesitated to look deep within. His 2020 album ‘Restoration’ checked out individuality, particularly pondering on things that obscure one’s real self. Standout track “Self Discovery” connected the effect of the servant trade on his African forefathers to the perilous fallout of a non-relationship with his own daddy. The last time we dealt with Lecrae was for an unique Ctrl.At.Home session shot in Atlanta at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. This time we’re commemorating the finalé of his ‘Church Clothes’ series. “I think every great story has a final chapter,” he states. Wise words from a smart guy.
