Jeff Ross Comedy Central Special Used to Sentence Man to Death, D.A. Firing Back

Funnyman Jeff Ross might have accidentally contributed to a Texas prisoner’s death sentence … and now, the person’s lawyers are asking the Supreme Court to reverse the sentence.

Here’s the rub … lawyers for Gabriel Hall are petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court to evaluate the founded guilty killer’s capital penalty sentence, which was based in part on jokes Ross and Hall made to each other … throughout the comic’s 2015 television special.

During the trial, district attorneys used Ross’ reveal as proof versus Hall, which ultimately lead to his conviction and subsequent death sentence.

The taped special was contended the Detention Center where Hall was waiting for trial in TX back in ’15 … it was shot quickly prior to Hall’s conviction for the murder of a man called Edwin Shaar.

According to the Supreme Court petition, acquired by TMZ, Ross and Hall had a comprehensive convo that was aired AS A PART of “Jeff Ross Roasts Criminals: Live At Brazos County Jail.” The chat lasted 17 minutes with the comic consistently buffooning the person’s look and joking about his race. During the exchange, Hall made a series of jokes which district attorneys used throughout the charge stage which, they stated, revealed Hall had “a lack of remorse for having committed capital murder.” As an outcome, Hall’s legal representatives state, the jury voted to put Hall to death.

In their legal docs, Hall’s legal representatives state that prior to the Ross special was taped, they sent out the Brazos County Sheriff a letter of “no contact” … asking the deputies to restrict anybody from talking to Hall without their authorization. Clearly, that didn’t occur.
