Green Day Defends NYE MAGA Lyric Change, Describing America’s Current State as Less Intelligent

Green Day altered their lyrics during a New Year’s Eve performance to address the MAGA crowd. If the MAGA supporters were upset with the band’s initial action, they would be even angrier after this interview.

The band members were approached at LAX and inquired about the modification made to “American Idiot” lyrics. The alteration was made during their performance on Dick Clark’s ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ two weeks ago, where the word “redneck” was replaced with “MAGA.”

Essentially, Billie sang “I’m not part of a MAGA agenda” instead of the original line, sparking outrage among Trump supporters, who criticized the band online.

Now, speaking about the incident, including Billie Joe Armstrong, he stated that it was expected from the MAGA supporters and likened it to exaggerated shock. When asked if he had a message for those offended, he blew them a kiss.

Green Day’s long-time bassist Mike Dirnt and original drummer Tré Cool echoed Billie’s sentiments, expressing no remorse for their actions.

When asked if they believe that America has become less intelligent since the release of the song in 2004, the band members provided intriguing responses.

According to their perspective, it seems the band believes that the United States might be less intelligent today compared to the Bush era and that the country is more divided than ever.
