DVSN, Jagged Edge, & Jermaine Dupri Connect For “What’s Up” Single

DVSN likes the 90s (and 2000s), so to speak.

Dating back to their OVO launching, Sept. 5, the noise from duo of vocalist Daniel Daley and manufacturer Nineteen85 has actually been rooted in fond memories. After using a singing sample of Jay-Z’s “Song Cry” for their very first single of the year, “If I Get Caught,” the set relate to Jermaine Dupri and Jagged Edge (I understand, best?) for its follow-up, “What’s Up.”

“When we were playing it for the twins from Jagged Edge,” Daniel discusses, “they were so enthusiastic about this tune being very unique and crucial for R&B, that they chose to bless us with their vocals and hallmark consistencies to finish the feeling.”

“What’s Up” likewise shows up with a Andy Madeleine-directed video, which is an extension of its predecessor and — real to 90s and 2000s kind — eventually has Daniel singing in the rain a la Tom DuBois from The Boondocks.
