Someone falsely reported a 911 emergency at the White House this week. Shockingly, the hoax managed to prompt first responders to swiftly head over to the President’s residence.
As per the Associated Press, a fabricated 911 call was made on Monday morning in D.C., just after 7 AM. The caller falsely claimed a fire outbreak at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and insisted that someone was trapped inside.
President Joe Biden and his family were not at the White House at the time. Instead, they were at Camp David, and shortly after, he arrived in Philadelphia for an MLK event later that day.
It’s uncertain if Biden was immediately informed about the hoax. However, it appears to have been effective as the local fire department responded to the White House and collaborated with Secret Service personnel to assess the situation.
Evidently, the report turned out to be false, which was promptly realized by the authorities. According to AP, when the officials attempted to contact the original caller, they denied making any such call. Thus, the entire incident was just an elaborate prank.
Situations like swatting frequently occur in the celebrity sphere. However, it’s astonishing that such a ruse managed to deceive authorities at the most renowned residence globally. It would be logical to assume they have surveillance cameras in place, but apparently, that’s not the case!
