Following recent discussions about discrimination on film sets, actress Taraji P. Henson, who stars in the film ‘The Color Purple,’ finds herself in a challenging position. Some executives at Warner Bros., the studio behind the movie, are concerned that her remarks may have a negative impact on the film’s reception.
In response to this, Taraji P. Henson is now striving to shift the focus back to the film itself. She expressed her hope that the attention would return to the movie, rather than being overshadowed by her personal challenges in Hollywood.
During an interview with Today, she emphasized, “I hope they can focus back onto this film, because right now, to me, it feels like what I said is now becoming louder than this beautiful film.
” She continued, “And that’s not fair to me, or anybody in the film, because the film deals with women who are oppressed – who live in an oppressed system. Men and women. And all the characters in that film except for the white people. So that movie is about healing. That movie is about sisterhood.
“
Taraji also took the opportunity to acknowledge Oprah Winfrey’s unwavering support during the production. She spoke of Oprah’s personal involvement and her commitment to addressing any issues that arose on set. Taraji praised Oprah’s dedication, highlighting her willingness to take corrective action promptly.
In light of the recent events, Taraji emphasized, “What you’re not gonna do is pit two Black women together – not on my watch.
