Jidenna Opens Up About Past Misogynistic Behavior and Vows to Change His Ways

The artist, best known for his hit song “Classic Man,” recently confessed to being manipulative and causing harm to women in the past. Jidenna shared his reflections during a guest appearance on the “What’s Underneath: Masculinity” podcast by Man Enough, where he discussed his career and personal growth.

During the episode, Jidenna admitted to engaging in manipulative behavior, including lying for amusement and mastering the art of manipulation. He expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging that he had mistreated women and caused them emotional pain. The artist also revealed instances where he took advantage of women, acknowledging that he robbed some of them of their prime reproductive years and exploited their talents for his own benefit.

“I remember different quotes I said. Just like really manipulative things to say like, ‘No one’s going to love you the way I do.’ My god, how could I do that to Black women? I’m ashamed of it, and that’s what makes me angry when I see my brothers do that. I understand it, but I can’t have that anymore. We can’t do that to the women that have done so much for us to even exist.”

Jidenna also reflected on his past behavior, acknowledging that he used his artistic platform to his advantage, offering women opportunities in exchange for their compliance. He expressed remorse for his actions, emphasizing that he understands the gravity of his past behavior and its impact on the women involved.

Despite expressing remorse and a desire to change, Jidenna’s sincerity has been met with skepticism by many.
