NFL standout Joey Bosa, known for tormenting quarterbacks on the field, concedes that he is no match for Joey Chestnut. In an exclusive with TMZ Sports, Bosa predicts an impending defeat against the professional eater in the upcoming pistachio contest.
The Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive force will partake in the annual Wonderful Pistachios Get Crackin’ Eating Championship at the Santa Monica Pier. Competing for the $10k prize, Bosa will have eight minutes to outeat his rivals and claim the title.
Despite recording 6.5 sacks in the previous season, Bosa humorously contemplates a career shift towards competitive eating, stating, “Forget football. This is my calling right here. Pistachios.”
Amongst the contenders like Nick Wehry, James Webb, Bartley Weaver, Darrien Thomas stands the unbeatable Chestnut, according to Bosa’s assessments.
Bosa humorously sets low expectations for himself, expressing his primary desire to survive the competition unscathed.
“I don’t really care about my ranking,” shares the 28-year-old. “My ultimate aim is to avoid any nut-related incidents in front of an audience.”
“If I manage that, it’s a victory in my book,” he added.
While the pistachio challenge may be a new endeavor for Bosa, he affirms that fans shouldn’t anticipate his presence at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest anytime soon.
