Michael Irvin settles lawsuit with Marriott and returns to NFL Network

Michael Irvin returned to analyze NFL games on NFL Network on Sunday after settling his $100 million defamation lawsuit against Marriott.

The Dallas Cowboys legend was all smiles on “NFL Gameday Morning” as he was introduced by host Rich Eisen where he said, “It’s good to be here.”

This is Irvin’s first appearance since February when he was suspended after accusations of inappropriate behavior with a Marriott employee during Super Bowl week in Phoenix.

The employee, identified by Irvin as Jane Doe in court documents, alleged that Irvin approached her near the hotel bar, told her she was attractive, and then asked if she “knew anything about having a ‘big black man inside her’.”

Irvin insisted the claims were untrue and shortly thereafter filed a lawsuit against Marriott, claiming that “the employees and management of the hospitality giant falsely and inflamatorily accused Mr. Irvin of misconduct to the National Football League,” costing him tens of millions of dollars. Irvin and his attorney, Levi McCathern, released a video of the alleged interaction between the two, stating that it showed nothing more than a brief and harmless conversation.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the parties recently reached a settlement, paving the way for Irvin’s return to NFL Network. The terms of the settlement were not publicly disclosed.
