Selena Gomez to Portray Linda Ronstadt in Upcoming Biopic Movie

Selena Gomez is set to hit the big screen to portray one of music’s greatest icons, Linda Ronstadt, and with the blessing of the legend herself… TMZ has learned.

The speculation kicked into high gear Wednesday after Selena Gomez posted a photo of herself reading Linda’s 2013 memoir, ‘Simple Dreams,’ with little context. That was enough to make people wonder if they were collaborating, or if Selena was joking about a future performance. This was around the same time she said she was taking another social media hiatus.

Nevertheless, sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ that Selena has indeed been tapped to portray Linda in an upcoming biopic. However, we’re told it’s in the early stages and details about the cast and studio are murky.

That being said, what we do know is that Linda personally approved of Selena and we’re told she’s thrilled the actress and singer is attached to the project. She feels she’s the perfect fit. In fact, our sources say Selena met with Linda a couple of months ago at her home where they spoke privately.

We’re told Linda and her team are directly involved with the production, so they’ll oversee it. Our sources point out the plot will revolve around her book.

Naturally, there’s also the singing element. Linda has a unique, powerhouse voice and Selena is, obviously, a professional singer. So technically, she can pull it off.

With Selena’s casting, one can imagine this is going to be a major movie and with biopics like this in the past, there may be awards buzz surrounding it.
