Kevin Costner Responds to Wife Christine’s $885,000 Attorney’s Fee Request

Kevin Costner‘s attorney is baffled by his estranged wife’s, Christine Baumgartner, recent request for him to pay $885,000 in attorney’s fees associated with a single issue in their divorce proceedings.

Celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser fired back at Christine’s request, arguing that the exorbitant sum would allegedly be spent on a mini-trial to determine the enforceability of Christine’s waiver of spousal support as outlined in the prenuptial agreement.

Christine’s legal team argues that $885,000 is necessary to present their case, but Wasser counters that Christine’s attorneys would have to work over 1,100 hours to justify such a fee based on their hourly rates.

Wasser describes Christine’s request as “outrageous” and points out that the judge has already indicated the enforceability of the prenuptial agreement, rendering Christine’s pursuit futile.

Interestingly, Christine has incurred significant losses in the divorce proceedings, having initially sought $248,000 per month in child support, only to have the judge determine that $63,000 was a fair amount. Despite Kevin’s offer of $75,000 per month, Christine rejected it and continued the legal battle.

Wasser also claims that Kevin has already paid Christine $300,000 in legal fees and alleges that she withdrew $105,000 from Kevin’s accounts to cover her legal expenses.

Furthermore, if Christine challenges the prenuptial agreement and loses, she may have to return over a million dollars that Kevin has provided and cover his attorney’s fees.
