Singer-songwriter carried out new music from her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP
Kelsea Ballerini made her Saturday Night Live debut this weekend, carrying out throughout an episode that included NFL star Travis Kelce (yes, they observed how similar their names sound) as host. Ballerini’s 2 tunes consisted of “Blindsided” and “Penthouse,” choices from her current surprise EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.
For her “Blindsided” efficiency, Ballerini came out in a zebra-like black one-piece suit and stood in front of a flashing screen showing a creepy shape that looked as though it was caught within, at one point touching the specter. She likewise added a new ending to the tune that referenced her current split and subsequent tabloid drama (“Now you’re singin’ it loud on the radio like you’re the only heart that breaks / You would’ve browsed the entire world over? Yeah, sure, OK.”) On “Penthouse,” she came out in a spectacular white gown and, standing in front of a coordinating white piano, vocalized the lyrics, “We played the part 5 nights, however we were never ever there on the weekends, child.”
Ballerini’s been a component in the news of late, both for launching new music and for going public about her untidy divorce. The country-pop star split from singer-songwriter Morgan Evans in August 2022 after almost 5 years together, about which she stated bit at the time. Afterward, Evans launched a tune called “Over for You” that discussed him being blindsided by the end of their relationship.
In action to Ballerini’s new EP and brief movie, Evans went on the internet to reveal his dissatisfaction. “It’s truly unfortunate for me to see this individual, who I invested a lot of my life with, and enjoyed with all my heart, stating things that aren’t truth which neglect what truly took place,” he composed on Twitter. Ballerini wasn’t having it. On a new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, she let loose on how untidy things had actually gotten.
“Who you wed is not who you divorce,” she stated. “As he’s putting out a tune about being blindsided, he’s taking half your house that he didn’t spend for.” In return, Evans chose to put out a whole docuseries about their relationship and split.
