Happy Founders’ Day!
We’ve collected here today to salute the vibrant females of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. commemorating 110 years of progressing with perseverance as the devastating queens of the Divine Nine.
Founded by 22 females at Howard University in 1913, the storied company progressed from a cumulative desire to promote scholastic quality while supplying help to those in requirement.
In March of 1913, the Founders performed their very first public act by taking part in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington, D.C.
For over a century they’ve supplied help and assistance through recognized programs in regional neighborhoods throughout the world. Since its starting, more than 300,000 females have actually signed up with the sisterhood of mainly Black, college informed females.
Today, the internationally revered sorority has 1,000 college and alumnae chapters found in the United States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Republic of Korea.
Naturally, there are numerous significant members consisting of Cicely Tyson, Shirley Chisholm, Aretha Franklin, Angela Bassett, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Mara Brock Akil, Andra Day, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Brandee Evans, Ledisi, and a lot more dedicated to positive advancement of its members and to civil service with a main concentrate on the Black neighborhood.

With a 2017-2021 quadrennial style of “pleasure in our sisterhood, power in our voice and service in our heart,” the women of Delta Sigma Theta continue to shine in the culture.
