Ben Lanzarone, known for his work on “The Love Boat” and “Happy Days,” has passed away, as confirmed by TMZ.
Ilene Graff, Ben’s wife and an actress, informed TMZ that Ben peacefully passed away in his sleep after battling lung cancer.
Graff was by Ben’s side at the time of his passing, after being married for over 45 years.
Despite not being a household name, Ben’s musical contributions were significant, featuring in numerous iconic TV shows from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
His work includes popular shows such as “The Love Boat,” “Happy Days,” “Dynasty,” “Mork and Mindy,” “Laverne and Shirley,” “The Tracey Ullman Show,” “The Colbys,” and “Mr. Belevdere.”
Ben and Ilene first met while working on “Grease,” where Ben was involved in the music video for “Summer Nights.” They later collaborated on ‘Belvedere,’ with Ilene starring in 118 episodes as Marsha Cameron Owens.
In 1986, Ben was honored with ASCAP’s Most Performed Underscore Award. He is survived by Ilene and their daughter Nikka.
Ben was 85 years old.
