The King of the South has a tougher image than he realizes. New reports claim T.I. found himself in handcuffs Wednesday (May 16) after getting into a heated argument with a security guard at his gated Georgia community.
According to reports, the incident went down a few hours ago when a guard wouldn’t allow Tip into the neighborhood without his key.
The rapper TI has been arrested on disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and simple assault charges as he tried to enter his gated community outside Atlanta, police have said. He was arrested around 4.30am after he got into an argument with a security guard, according to Henry County Police. Local media reports say the Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Clifford Harris, lost his key and the guard wouldn’t let him into the community. (Independent)
Despite the headline-generating bust, Tip didn’t spend much time in police custody or have to stand before a judge.
T.I. was arrested on misdemeanor charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. His friend was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Channel 2 reported. The rapper was released from the Henry County Jail about 8 a.m. Wednesday after posting $2,250 bond. He did not appear before a judge. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
Additional details have surfaced following Tip’s release.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … T.I. was, in fact, allowed into his gated community after an initial argument with the guard, but then returned on foot shortly afterward to confront the guy again. That’s when cops were called to the scene, and ended up arresting him. We’re also told T.I. did NOT make physical contact with the security guard, but the guard feared he would be hit during the dispute. Under GA law, that constitutes an alleged simple assault. (TMZ)
Last weekend, T.I. saluted his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle with a Mother’s Day shout-out.
