Chicago rapper Frank Leone, who’s worked with the likes of Vic Mensa and Nico Segal (fka Donnie Trumpet), makes his return in profound fashion with this new song called “Huffing Paint.” Premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 earlier this week, the self-produced song finds Frank wrestling with the death of his close friend, Westley Banks, who committed suicide last year. While the subject matter is obviously pretty heavy, the gorgeous, glitchy production gives Frank’s grief a strangely upbeat vibe. Because everyone needs light during dark times.
The weight of the world got too heavy. I should’ve been a better friend. I will never be the same without you. Fuck this.
