Chicago’s Bump J Has Been Released From Prison

During the mixtape era throughout the 2000s, where New York rappers like 50 Cent, Cam’ron and French Montana thrived, there was one Chicago rapper whose own name rang loudly also: Terrence Boykin, better known as Bump J.

One of the few underground rappers of that time who could easily get beats from a then-rising Kanye West, things came crashing down for Bump when he was arrested in 2008 for his connection to a bank robbery a year prior, ultimately being sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2009.

Today (April 12th), however, marks a new chapter in Bump J’s life, as he has been released from FCI Elkton in Lisbon, OH this morning. FSD is reporting that Boykin will return to Chicago before the day’s end.

In the meantime, get reacquainted with Bump with his 2016 EP, Last Of The Giants.
