As co-founder of Def Jam and current owner of a multitude of businesses and charities, Russell Simmons is one of the most successful moguls in the game. As a heavy drug user-turned-vegan yogi who preaches meditation, he’s also one of the most interesting guys in the industry. So it’s no surprise why Mass Appeal chose to spotlight Uncle Rush in the first episode of their new series, Too Old to Die Young.
The mini documentary follows Rush for a day as he handles business in his Midtown office and sits down for an interview with HuffPo while reflecting on creativity, spirituality and achieving enlightenment with age. Although his work days are far from typical, Russell’s mornings are always the same: hot yoga followed by cryotherapy. “You do it because it quiets the mind, and you can’t work with a busy mind,” he says.
